so i recently pre-ordered the new beck album, modern guilt, on vinyl and since then i have been on a boy-i-wish-i-could-buy-that-on-vinyl kick. you all know what i’m talking about. you browse through the online store adding all the records you wish you could buy to your cart and before you know it, you have about $250 worth of polyvinyl chloride burning a hole in your e-cart. i mean, come on, wouldn’t it be great to have all your favorite recordings on the finer format? i’m talking about old and new, your beach boys and your feist. your sonny rollins and your tv on the radio. here are some of the albums that i had in my cart.

  • the beach boys – pet sounds (reissue)
  • beck – sea change
  • bjork – homogenic
  • bjork – medulla
  • the books – lost and safe
  • the books – thought for food
  • nick drake – five leaves left
  • efterklang – one sided lp
  • efterklang – parades
  • efterklang – springer
  • feist – the reminder
  • jimi hendrix – band of gypsys (reissue)
  • iron and wine – the shepherd’s dog
  • michael jackson – thriller – 25th anniversary edition (2xLP)
  • the magnetic fields – distortion
  • mum – please smile my nose bleed
  • mum – yesterday was dramatic, today is ok (reissue) (2xLP)
  • mum – go go smear the poison ivy
  • wilco – sky blue sky (2xLP)
  • the who – tommy

this next album might as well… well it might as well be gold:

i feel like the above list is a pretty good place to start… or at least start chipping away at. anyone else have some good vinyl recommendations?

oh, by the way, tomorrow’s my birthday. happy birthday me.
